Unicauca Student Wins Scholarship to Participate in International Course with a Gender Perspective
Law student Karen Gómez has won a scholarship to participate in an international course with a gender perspective, organized by UN Women and the Ibero-American Union of Municipalists (UIM).
Karen Tatiana Gómez Castillo, a student in the Law program at the University of Cauca and member of the feminist research group CautioFeminista, participated in and won a 100% scholarship to attend the International Course on Tools and Strategies for Elaborating Municipal Plans for Equality. The course was organized by UN Women and the Ibero-American Union of Municipalists (UIM), as part of the project "Strengthening capacities of local and regional women leaders towards local agendas with a gender perspective."
The course took place from October 30 to November 26, 2023, following the detailed program outlined in the call. In this context, Karen had to plan her active participation during these three weeks, which included necessary assessment activities to obtain a certificate endorsed by UN Women and the UIM. The Academic Selection Committee of UN Women and UIM granted a scholarship covering 100% of the tuition fees for the virtual course.
The participation of our students in academic spaces, both nationally and internationally, is a source of pride for the University of Cauca. These experiences not only contribute to their professional and personal development but will undoubtedly play a key role in advancing our city and region in overcoming the gender gaps we currently face.
