Unicauca student triumphs in the first virtual contest of tubas and euphoniums

The University of Cauca opened the doors for me to pursue my professional career. This important Alma Mater means a lot to me, because she has given me the academic, ethical and moral knowledge to train me as a person of integrity; I am also grateful for the valuable knowledge that the teachers have transmitted to me. Affirmed the student of the Instrumental Music program, Cristhian Fernando Flórez Muñoz, who obtained the highest recognition during the First Virtual Contest of Tubas and Euphonia of Panama International, where she participated together with representatives of Spain, Mexico, Panama and Costa Rica.

 

Cristhian Fernando Flórez Muñoz, who represented Colombia during the contest, was born in the municipality of Ricaurte, department of Nariño, began in music at the age of eight in the San Pablo training school, playing percussion and sometime later he decided to the euphonium, an instrument with which he participated in different contests with the municipal band.

 

In the same way, he has performed on important stages such as the Second Colombian Music Meeting “Universidad del Cauca 2016; He also obtained the Artistic Residency Symphonic Youth Band of Colombia in 2017 and had an outstanding participation in the International Music Festival in Santa Catarina FEMUSC, Brazil, in 2019.

 

The First Virtual Contest of Tubas and Euphoniums of Panama International was organized by the Association of Tubas and Euphonia of Panama, Ateppanama, for tuba and euphonium students without age limit and with a maximum level of the last year of bachelor's degree in instrument or its equivalent , to show the work and talent of the interpreters of these musical instruments; also to stimulate musical quality at a global level and to provide a pedagogical experience in a training space for cultural audiences in a virtual auditorium.

 

According to the dynamics of the virtual contest of tubas and euphoniums, the applicants received the videos between June 21 and July 21 with a work established by the Organization of the contest; the announcement of the winners was made on July 28, 2020.

 

 

According to the contest rules, the jury's rating was equal to 80% and 20% corresponded to the number of Likes obtained from voting on social networks, said student Flórez Muñoz, who in 2019 began his career in Music Instrumental at the University of Cauca.
