The students from the Chemistry program, who are part of the Bioactive Compound Chemistry Research Group (QCB), presented their work during the XI Colombian Chromatography Congress.

The XI Colombian Chromatography Congress, held from November 13 to 15 in the city of Bucaramanga, featured presentations of works led by students from the University of Cauca, who are part of the Bioactive Compound Chemistry Research Group (QCB).

Among the participants, Karen Torres, a student from the University of Cauca's Chemistry program, presented her work titled "Standardization of a Methodology Using GC-MS for the Identification and Quantification of Diclofenac and Loratadine as Emerging Contaminants." Her participation was supported by a registration scholarship granted by the Professional Council of Chemistry (CPQ).

The event also featured presentations from other students: Lessly Fenid Romero Duarte, who presented "Synthesis and Characterization of Deep Eutectic Solvents for Use as Extractants of Emerging Contaminants in Aqueous Samples"; María Camila Ruiz Benavides with her proposal "Study of the Inhibition of Fungal Growth Species of White Rot in the Presence of the Antibiotic Doxycycline"; and Jennifer Vanessa González Hurtado, who shared her research on environmental topics, titled "Optimization of the Microalga Chlorella Vulgaris Encapsulation Method for Subsequent Use in the Bioremediation of Emerging Contaminants in Water.0022

The agenda of the aforementioned event also included the III Pan American Symposium on Essential Oils (III SPAE), where the research titled "Preliminary Characterization of Different Spathodea Campanulata Extracts: A Study on Its Chemical Composition" was presented by students Tatiana Andrea Suárez Agredo, Juan Múnera, and Diana Sofía Sánchez, who received a registration scholarship from the Colombian Society of Chemical Sciences (SCCQ).

Finally, the agenda featured the XVI Latin American Symposium on Environmental Analytical Chemistry (XVI LASEAC), where student Feyer Mamián Piamba presented his work titled "Standardization of a Methodology for the Determination of Nitrates, Nitrites, and Sulfates in Rainwater by UV-VIS Spectrophotometry Using Ion Exchangers."

The XI Colombian Chromatography Congress (XI COCOCRO), organized by the Colombian Society of Chemical Sciences (SCCQ), is the result of over 20 years of uninterrupted efforts in promoting scientific and technological work, as well as instrumental developments and the latest advances in chromatographic separation techniques. This biennial event attracts notable national and international scientists, who present the results of developments in various topics such as stationary phase and consumable development, the latest advancements in instrumentation, as well as applications and scopes.
