Unicauca Stereo 104.1 F.M joins the international campaign "16 days and counting ..."

La Universidad -

The radio cycle organized by the RIU International University Radio, to which the University of Cauca station belongs, begins on November 25 and ends on December 10. And it will be broadcast simultaneously by university stations in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain and Mexico.

"This year, in which we have explored the advantages of the virtual modality, we have become attached to the dynamics of telework, we have also articulated much more regardless of the distances that separate us," said the Social Communicator, María Alejandra Medina, Coordinator of the Unicauca Estéreo 104.1 FM station to refer to the campaign called by the RIU International University Radio and its Gender Commission, called: "16 days and counting ..."

The Institutional station Unicauca stereo 104.1 FM is a member of the University Radio Network of Colombia RRUC, which in turn is part of the Network of Networks called International University Radio (List of Stations associated with the RIU).

“For this reason, we joined the campaign" 16 days and counting ... "in which from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) until December 10 (International Day of Human Rights) we will broadcast a series of daily radio capsules, in order to promote reflection on this issue, "said the Social Communicator.

As a complementary activity, on November 25, in addition, we will be in a live radio program and direct, through the RIU social networks to talk about different topics. “Taking into account the aforementioned commemoration, we have invited the teacher Elisa Jojoa to tell us a little about midwifery in the department of Cauca, as it is a common thread between Afro and indigenous communities. Also, because we consider it essential to highlight the contribution of the Academy, of our University for the strengthening of humanized childbirth”.

The cycle "16 days and counting ..." will be broadcast simultaneously in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain and Mexico. "We will hear stories and thoughts, many of them unpublished that invite us to reflect on such contingent issues such as human rights and violence against women. Both issues are part of the work that through different instances are being addressed within our Universities, so we believe this look of radio promotion will also become a complementary contribution in both subjects, ”said Verónica Orihuela, representative of the Gender Commission of the International University Radio Network.

Thus, from 16 voices and 16 different accents, talking about the same problem, the project contemplates transmitting a daily capsule for 16 consecutive days, which will contain a narrated story plus a poem that will delve into that problem.

The foundation of this project is to make the issue visible in the form of an international campaign, seeking to promote the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls and whose objective is to join forces among university radio stations multiplying the scope of the message.

From November 25 to December 10, "16 days and counting" will be on the air thanks to the coordinated work of the stations of the National University of Avellaneda, Argentina; University of Cauca, Colombia; Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Mexico; University of La Serena, Chile; and the National University of Extremadura Spain.
