Unicauca professor presents his research on ankle injuries in sports in Chile

Andrés Felipe Villaquirán Hurtado presented his work at the II International Congress of the Pleokinetic Network, where he has conducted various studies on sports physiotherapy.

Professor Andrés Felipe Villaquirán Hurtado, faculty member of the Physiotherapy program, was invited as a speaker at the II International Congress of the Pleokinetic Network to present his research paper 'Control, Management, and Mitigation of Ankle Injury Risk in Sports,' where he showcased the progress made in the functional assessment of this joint and the development of strategies for athlete health care.

The event, organized by the University of La Frontera in Chile, took place in the city of Temuco from October 24 to 25. It addressed advances in functional electromechanical dynamometry for health and sports performance, with the participation of faculty and researchers from more than 20 universities in countries such as Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil, and Colombia, represented by Professor Andrés Felipe Villaquirán Hurtado from the University of Cauca.

In this regard, Professor Villaquirán presented results that reflect a research effort from the Physical Activity and Sports focus area and the Human Body Movement and Quality of Life Research Group within the Physiotherapy program, consolidating collaborative work with the University of Granada and the IDAFISAD research group, strengthening international cooperation and network-based research

The Ibero-American Knowledge Network Pleokinétic (Pleokinetic) is a thematic network that connects research groups from different countries in Europe and Latin America, both public and private entities, with the aim of promoting and disseminating scientific advances in the study of muscle strength related to health and sports performance.
