Unicauca Physiotherapy Student Undertakes Academic Mobility and Research in Spain
During the month of November, Cristina Inés Jiménez Ávila will undertake an academic mobility experience at the University of Granada with the IDAFISAD Research Group.
Cristina Inés Jiménez Ávila, a student of the Elective in Physical Activity and Sports of the Physiotherapy program at the University of Cauca, is currently undertaking an international mobility experience at the University of Granada with the IDAFISAD Research Group during the month of November.
This mobility opportunity is the result of the collaborative efforts of students and faculty from the physical activity and sports track, aimed at strengthening international collaborative work and networking in the field of Sports Physiotherapy and Sports Sciences research. The goal of this mobility is to deepen both theoretical and practical knowledge in strength assessment and training through functional electromechanical dynamometry, with a focus on sports rehabilitation. Additionally, it aims to advance research processes related to the functional management of ankle injuries in sports.
"This mobility represents an invaluable opportunity for me to strengthen my academic and research skills in an international context. The experience at the University of Granada, with access to new methodologies, working teams, and advanced Functional Electromechanical Dynamometry tools, significantly enriches my training and prepares me for the challenges of contemporary sports physiotherapy, a field that deeply interests me professionally," said Cristina Inés Jiménez Ávila from Spain.
She added that all students, regardless of their area of study, should aspire to an international experience. "Living and learning in other countries not only allows us to experience new cultures, perspectives, and knowledge, but it also provides us with essential tools to contribute in a more enriching way to our communities and our own professional development upon returning."
Regarding this topic, Andrés Felipe Villaquirán, professor in the Physiotherapy program, emphasizes the importance of providing international mobility opportunities for students. "In this case, we are proud of the interest shown by the student in building new knowledge for the Sports Sciences through research. We believe in quality education through mobility opportunities that allow future physiotherapists to learn about advances in new technologies, gain multidisciplinary experiences, build international networks, foster professional collaboration, and adapt to different cultural contexts, all of which promote personal and professional growth."
Professor Villaquirán concluded by stating that, as part of the physical activity and sports track, these academic mobility experiences help strengthen research ties and demonstrate the commitment to contributing to the strengthening of the Pleokinetic network.
