Unicauca Graduate Students on a Technical Visit to the Hidroituango Hydroelectric Project
Graduate students from the Specialization in Water Resources Engineering visited the department of Antioquia, specifically the Aguas del Oriente drinking water plant and the hydroelectric project located between the municipality of Ituango and the township of Puerto Valdivia.
The Specialization in Water Resources Engineering emerges as an urgent necessity in a context where sustainable water management stands as a critical challenge. This specialization provides advanced knowledge in the planning, design, and management of water resources, equipping professionals to address key issues such as water security, the conservation of aquatic ecosystems, and the mitigation of water-related disasters.

In this context, students from the Specialization in Water Resources Engineering at the Universidad del Cauca, accompanied by professors Carlos Armando Gallardo and Andrea Bolaños from the Department of Hydraulics, carried out a technical visit to the department of Antioquia.
During this experience, which took place from November 28 to December 1 of this year, the students had the opportunity to learn about the operation of the Hidroituango hydroelectric project, located between the municipality of Ituango and the township of Puerto Valdivia. They also visited the Aguas del Oriente drinking water plant, located in El Retiro, Antioquia. This activity was made possible with the valuable collaboration of officials from Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM).
