Unicauca graduate student returns to Colombia from Brazil
The student of the Master in Telematic Engineering, Ana Montoya, joins the other six students from the University of Cauca, who participate in academic exchanges at universities in Mexico, Brazil, France and Germany, who are in preventive isolation in Bogotá.
Ana Montoya, a student of the Master in Telematic Engineering at the University of Cauca, who was in Sao Paulo, Brazil, conducting a research internship at the State University of Campinas, spoke with the informative “Unicauca al Día” Radio, about the efforts that the University advanced for her return to Colombia. She had to return to Colombia on April 30, but due to the closure of international borders due to the circumstances caused by Covid 19, it was not possible to do so on that date.
The repatriation of her and the other six students who participate in academic exchanges at universities in Mexico, Brazil, France and Germany, who are in preventive isolation in Bogotá, were able to return to their homes thanks to the efforts made before the National Government by the Alma Máter through its Office of International and Institutional Relations, as well as the director of the Master, Gustavo Ramírez, the teachers and their tutor, Oscar Caicedo.
“The process that was carried out for the repatriation was faster than I expected; In order to carry out this management, I contacted the Brazilian Embassy in Colombia, which sent me an email from the Consulate of Sao Paulo, the city where I was; I sent my request and they responded to me after a few days saying that there was a possible humanitarian flight scheduled for May 14, so I requested my return to Colombia on that flight", said the student.
After a few days, officials from said Embassy asked him via email if she had the availability to arrive at the Sao Paulo airport on May 14 at 1:00 in the morning, to access the humanitarian flight; They also asked her for the address of the place where she was going to stay in Bogotá during the days of compulsory isolation.
The student had to sign many documents, taking responsibility for the cost of transportation from Brazil to Bogotá; Likewise, other procedures should have been carried out because, in accordance with the established protocol, Colombians who arrive in the country on these flights must previously register with the Consular Registry and abide by the provisions on biosecurity that are carried out in all air terminals as a strategic measure that ensures the supply chain at this time of emergency.
Prior to entering the country, she completed the Preventive Control against Coronavirus form, through the website of Migration Colombia and upon arrival in the country it was evaluated by the health authorities before the immigration control process was carried out.
