Unicauca and Mayor of Jambaló seek to combine initiatives in academic training

La Universidad -

In topics such as solidarity economy, cultural expressions and pedagogical models, an inter-institutional cooperation agreement will be established between the University of Cauca and the Mayor's Office of Jambaló, aimed at the academic strengthening of high school graduates and teachers in the municipality.

In a virtual meeting between the rector of the University of Cauca, José Luis Diago Franco and the Mayor of Jambaló, James Medina Cruz, it was agreed to carry out an institutional agreement with the purpose of contributing to issues of solidarity economy, agriculture, teacher training, among others, aimed at teachers and high school graduates from this municipality in northeastern Cauca.

"We agreed with the Mayor of Jambaló to contribute to higher education issues that will be established through an agreement between the two institutions in August, and that will seek to contribute to territorial peace through academic programs," said the rector of the University del Cauca.

As part of these initial agreements, the Mayor's Office of Jambaló will receive an orientation on the operation of the MenTES Cauca program (Improvement in the Transit to Higher Education), in order to prepare high school graduates in vocational topics, logical mathematical thinking, reading and writing and artistic skills, a topic that will be discussed in the next meeting with the Academic Vice-Rectory and the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation.

Likewise, the possibility of carrying out technology programs in the agricultural sector, solidarity economy and sustainable development aimed at high school graduates of the municipality through project cycles was established, an initiative that will work with the respective faculties. Another topic that was addressed at the meeting was the completion of postgraduate programs aimed at teachers in the municipality, in order to strengthen the teaching work.

"It was a productive meeting in which we agreed to start with these pilot experiences for our high school graduates, taking advantage of issues that are the wealth of the municipality, for which the administration is willing to support," said Mayor Jambaló.

The meeting was also attended by the Academic Vice-Chancellor, Luis Guillermo Jaramillo Echeverri, the Director of the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation, Miguel Hugo Corchuelo Mora, the Councilor of Popayán and a graduate of the University of Cauca, Julián Ausecha.
