Unforgettable staging of the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Cauca in a concert for Peace and Reconciliation: 70 talented musicians from Unicauca accompanied the Venezuelan artist Joseph Amado

Within the framework of the XXXIII International Festival of Classical Music "Music for Peace and Reconciliation", the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Cauca was part of a heartfelt tribute to the artist Hector Lavoe, on Sunday, April 2 at the Los Guásimos Sports Center from Santander de Quilichao.

The XXXIII International Classical Music Festival is a commitment of the Kiwanis Tierra de Oro Club, in coordination with different allies, including the University of Cauca, to promote scenarios for building peace through art throughout the department of Cauca. , especially in those territories that have been deeply affected by the armed conflict. With more than 70 musicians from Unicauca on stage, on Sunday, April 2, a great symphonic concert was held at the facilities of the Guásimos Sports Center in Santander de Quilichao; concert with which he paid tribute to the great salsa singer Hector Lavoe, in the company of the Venezuelan artist Joseph Amado.

Thousands of people had the opportunity to witness the show live, and others enjoyed it via streaming on Telepacífico, thus living a space for meeting and dialogue around Peace and Reconciliation, a commitment that has been assumed from Alma Mater Caucana because "The University through all these artists who are on stage, by accompanying this symphony concert, is making a contribution to the country in the construction of peace, because we know the importance of culture and we know that it is through art that We can build social fabric, we have in education an option that transforms lives and we have in these Unicaucan artists a way of expressing art that is a powerful instrument for peace”, stated the rector, Dr. Deibar René Hurtado Herrera. Similarly, the Secretary of Departmental Education Amarildo Correa highlighted the importance of the articulation of the different institutions around art as a tool for the construction of Peace: "We believe that this is a very important scenario to attract attention, so that Cauca lives in peace and believes that music is a fundamental instrument to achieve peace and coexistence”.

 It fills us with emotion to know that these spaces for building peace, through music, are going to be replicated in different municipalities of Cauca such as Popayán, Guachene, Caldono, Miranda and Silvia, until April 9, when the XXXIII International Classical Music Festival, that is why we recommend that you be part of these activities that will be free to enjoy and that, in addition to providing entertainment, will be personalized in pedagogical spaces where the inhabitants of our department can experience up close how art is a powerful tool for peace.

Finally, it should be noted that the director of the event, Emith Montilla Echavarria, highlighted the work of the Universidad del Cauca during these 33 years in which it has supported first-hand the realization of the festival, thanking the Alma Mater in her opening words for their support, highlighting how by actively linking to these spaces, we ratify the university's commitment to be a place of thought for meeting, dialogue and concentration for the Construction of Peace; She bets that it is being strengthened within our new rectories plan that is aimed at providing the people of Cauca with a Bicentennial, Excellence and Solidarity university.
