Thirty-two notable scientific publications in the Young Researchers and Innovators Project in the Department of Cauca

La Universidad -

Publications in areas such as biotechnology, education, industry, health, sociocultural aspects, information and communication technologies (ICT), tourism, territory, and environment are part of these initial results of the research project funded by the General Royalties System and driven by the Universidad del Cauca in partnership with other Higher Education Institutions in Cauca.

In a world where academic excellence, research, and innovation are fundamental pillars for regional development, the Universidad del Cauca has emerged as a leader in advancing scientific and social progress in the department of Cauca. A notable example of this commitment is the implementation of the project titled 'Young Researchers and Innovators Project in the Department of Cauca.'

In this regard, in 2022, the project selected its first beneficiaries—30 outstanding young individuals recognized for their academic excellence, coming from various institutions. These individuals carried out research projects in key areas such as biotechnology, education, industry, health, sociocultural aspects, information and communication technologies (ICT), tourism, territory, and environment.

‘These investigations have significantly contributed to solving regional problems, and the hard work of these young researchers, along with the support of their tutors and research groups, has resulted in the acceptance or publication of thirty-two scientific articles in various academic journals, with one article currently under evaluation. This achievement not only highlights the efforts made by the young researchers, their tutors, and advisors but also positions all the institutions involved in the project on the national scientific map,’ said Carlos Alberto Cobos Lozada, director of the project.

According to Publindex categories, the accepted or published articles are distributed as follows: One article in category A1; Two articles in A2; Thirteen articles in B; Four articles in C; and Twelve articles in category D, totaling 32. The last category refers to journals not indexed in PUBLIDEX but indexed in two or more international databases.

‘Publications in academic journals provide a valuable space for young researchers to share their findings, exchange ideas, collaborate with peers, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their respective disciplines,’ added Professor Cobo Lozada, who is also the Coordinator of the R&D Group in Information Technologies – GTI.
