Students from Unicauca present their research papers at the 50th Congress of the Colombian Society of Entomology.

Twenty research projects led by undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Cauca were presented during this event, which took place in July in Medellín.

With their respective research works and projects, students from undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of Cauca participated in the 50th Congress of the Colombian Society of Entomology (SOCOLEN), held from July 26th to 28th at the National University of Medellín.

Fifteen students from the Biology program, three from the Master's in Biology, one from the Master's in Hydrobiological Resources, and a professor from the Department of Biology, all members of the Research Seedbed in Functional Diversity and Ecosystem Services affiliated with the Environmental Studies Group of the University of Cauca, were part of the event.

In total, there were 20 research works presented, including progress on their degree research, research projects, and/or the curation process of the Entomology Collection at the Museum of Natural History, led by Professor María Cristina Gallego Ropero, affiliated with the Department of Biology and Curator of the Collection.

It is noteworthy that the students received support from the Vice Presidency of Research and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Exact Sciences, and Education.

The Colombian Society of Entomology (SOCOLEN) Congress, themed 'Energy and Alternatives,' takes place every year in a different city, with the participation of various Higher Education Institutions, Research Centers, among others. Its objective is to exchange knowledge on Entomology research and related sciences, enriching the discipline and disseminating this science for the benefit of the community.
