From March 3 to March 17, 2025, the Division of Recreation and Sports Management opens the call for applications for the Children's Sports Development Center, aimed at the children of students, professors, administrative staff, and employees of our institution. This initiative, framed within the Institutional Development Plan, promotes Culture and Well-being as drivers of growth, ensuring that Unicaucana children can grow, play, and discover sports as a tool for comprehensive development.

The comprehensive recreation and sports strategy, designed for children aged 7 to 14, welcomes the children of students as well as the children and grandchildren of professors, administrative staff, and employees of the University of Cauca. The main goal is to enhance fundamental physical abilities such as flexibility, speed, strength, and endurance through five sports disciplines: athletics, swimming, gymnastics, a team sport, and a combat sport or martial art—all in a fun and educational environment. Sounds great, right?

It is important to clarify that this initiative is not intended to create specialized sports training schools. Instead, the focus is on developing and refining certain abilities through the sport-specific movements of each discipline.

How will it work in the first semester of 2025?

Group A: Children aged 7 to 11. Activities will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:25 p.m. at the El Diamante and Tulcán University Sports Centers. Each session will include rotations through the proposed disciplines.

Group B: Children aged 12 to 14. Activities will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:25 p.m. at the same sports venues, following a similar rotation structure.

As a regional institution committed to culture and well-being, we aim to support Unicaucana families by creating an environment where recreation, sports, and physical activity serve as tools for the holistic development of future generations.
