Rudecolombia Will Continue Under the Leadership of a Unicaucano
The University of Cauca will continue to preside over the Network of State Universities of Colombia (Rudecolombia) for another two years. This network oversees the Doctorate in Educational Sciences, an accredited High-Quality program made possible through the collaboration of ten public universities in the country.
The Rector of the University of Cauca, Dr. Deibar René Hurtado Herrera, has been re-elected as the President of Rudecolombia and will lead this important network for another term. The Council of Rectors, comprised of the ten public universities that are part of the organization, unanimously confirmed Unicauca’s continued presidency during a general assembly held in Cartagena on February 27. Meanwhile, Enrique Vera López, Rector of UPTC, will serve as Vice President.

“Due to the work we have done during these two years as President of Rudecolombia, I have been re-elected,” stated Rector Hurtado, who also expressed with enthusiasm: “This is a recognition of the efforts we have carried out alongside the academic committee of the Doctorate in Educational Sciences. I proudly accept this responsibility to continue working toward advanced education in our country, as this doctorate program has a presence throughout Colombia.”

Additionally, this gathering included a special moment: during the Council meeting, the University of Cundinamarca presented recognition awards to two institutions nearing their bicentennial anniversaries.
These were the University of Cartagena and our own University of Cauca, both of which are celebrating 197 years of academic excellence. For nearly two centuries, these institutions have built a legacy, educating professionals who have significantly contributed to the country’s development and societal transformation.
Nothing makes us prouder than strengthening our educational system through the hard work and dedication of our Unicauca community. Congratulations to our Rector, and best wishes for success in this new term at Rudecolombia!
