Research Seedbed in Robotics Triumphs at RUNIBOT 2024 and Prepares for Their Trip to Germany

La Universidad -

The Robotics Research Seedbed at the University of Cauca experienced an exciting and successful day as it concluded its participation in RUNIBOT 2024, held from April 24 to 26 in Bogotá.

At this event, the students competed in various categories, facing well-known competitors and showcasing their talent in disciplines such as speed robots, pursuit, RC soccer, RC minisumo, and autonomous robots. “This experience, besides being unforgettable, represented invaluable learning for all the members of the seedbed, inspiring us to improve every day,” said Lina Escobar Molano, a student of Physics Engineering.

In addition to their success at Runibot 2024, the Robotics Research Seedbed has further reasons to celebrate. In early April, it was announced that the project proposal submitted by the seedbed, under the guidance of Professor Andrés Fernando Ordóñez Hurtado, was accepted by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). This will allow 11 students from Physics and Electronics Engineering to participate in a study experience in Germany.

The main objective of this study trip is to immerse the students in Germany’s innovative and technological development environment, focusing on areas such as physical engineering, automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and electronic energy. Leveraging the international reputation and academic excellence of German universities and research centers, the seedbed aims to contribute to the field of engineering in Colombia, starting with their own university.

Therefore, we, at this excellent and supportive university, congratulate the students: Ana Lucía Escobar, Diana Pérez, Lina Escobar, Sebastián Castillo, Laura Chanchí, Ana Orozco, Paula Muñoz, Nicolás Ceballos, Juan David, Alejandra Valencia, and Alexandra Joaquí, who are excited about the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills through these diverse experiences, thus promoting research and practice.
