Professor Olga Lucía Sanabria Diago, invited to the II Forum “Perspectives of the conservation and multiple management of the resources of the Mexican tropics”

The University of Cauca professor was invited as a graduate of the Tropical Research Center (CITRO) to the event that addressed issues related to conservation and diversified management systems, ethno-biology and key tropical species, and the training of students in the socio-environmental context current.

Olga Lucía Sanabria Diago, professor of the Biology program attached to the Faculty of Natural, Exact and Educational Sciences of the University of Cauca, was invited to the II Forum “Perspectives of the conservation and multiple management of the resources of the Mexican tropics” that took place on November 28 and 29, 2019 in Xalapa, Veracruz (Mexico).

The teacher who was invited as a graduate of Ex-INiREB Mexico (currently CITRO) was linked to the event around student / graduate work tables, exchanges of problems in higher education in tropical resources, dialogue of community knowledge and current environmental and socio-cultural issues, as well as development of inter-institutional agreements Mexico - Colombia.

The event carried out by the Tropical Research Center (CITRO) of the Universidad Veracruzana raised a series of reflections to recognize the theoretical and practical legacy of Dr. Arturo Gómez Pompa, founder of CITRO on the study and understanding of the ecological, social and cultural dimensions of the tropics. Academics with relevant trajectories participated in topics such as conservation and diversified management systems, ethno-biology and key tropical species, and the training of students in the current socio-environmental context.

Professor Olga Lucía Sanabria Diago has a degree in Biology and Chemistry, Master in Ecology and Biotic Resources, Doctor in Biological Sciences with postdoctoral studies in Multidisciplinary Environmental Studies. She is Co-Founder of the Colombian Botany Association and has held positions in scientific associations as President of the Colombian Botanic Association and President of the Latin American Ethno-biology Society-SOLAE.
