Positive Balance of Unicauca Solidaria
The good reception of the “Unicauca Solidaria” campaign shows the feelings of generosity and solidarity of teachers and administrators towards their students and small merchants, whose livelihood is significantly affected in this quarantine season.
Starting next week, students from the University of Cauca from outside Popayán, who have not been able to leave, as well as merchants who have positions inside or around the university's headquarters, will receive financial assistance as a result of solidarity donations from teachers and administrators who voluntarily linked themselves to the Unicauca Solidaria campaign.
The call to donate in terms of daily wages corresponding to the payroll for the month of April, collected in its first stage the sum of $ 81,738,401: this value includes the contribution of $ 500,000 by ASPU. These resources will be delivered through money orders and in a personal way, according to the methodology proposed by the committee that was created for this purpose.
The Unicauca Solidaria committee is made up of:
- The Administrative Vice-rector
- The Vice-rector for Culture and Well-being
- The Dean of the Faculty of Natural, Exact and Educational Sciences
- The Dean of the Faculty of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering
- The Director of the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation
- The Director of the Communications Management Center
- The Head of the Division of Human Talent Management
- The President of Sintraunicol Cauca
- The President ASPU Cauca
- Professors Martha Bobadilla and Aida González from the Department of Mathematics
With the collaboration of professors and administrators, a database was created with the names of 50 merchants who have candy stands or photocopies inside or around the university buildings.
Likewise, from the Vicerrectoría de Cultura y Bienestar with the support of the UNEES Cauca platform, there is a database of students who remain in Popayán because they did not manage to travel to their places of origin and require support for the payment of services and supplies.
After analyzing these requests and the available resources, the following distribution was established:
- $ 100,000 for each of the 500 students who are in the database of the Vice-Rectory for Culture and Welfare, for a total of $ 50,000,000 that will be delivered by money orders through Daviplata.
- $ 300,000 for each of the 50 merchants head of household, for a total of $ 15,000,000 that will be delivered according to the established database.
The surplus resources, amounting to $ 16,738,401, constitute a care fund for cases or emergency needs that arise, such as health care, or as the basis for a next phase of support in view of the uncertainty in the duration of the quarantine.
The Unicauca Solidaria Committee thanks each of the officials, teachers and administrators for their generous contributions to this campaign, which seeks to mitigate the needs of people seriously affected by the current situation.
