The talented professor from the Department of Music at the University of Cauca, Magliony Márquez, has conquered international stages as a soloist on clarinet and piccolo clarinet with the prestigious National Band of Honduras. Additionally, he was selected by the Ministry of Culture of Panama to share his expertise in a masterclass on clarinet performance.

Professor Magliony Márquez, a distinguished member of the Department of Music at the University of Cauca, has had the honor of being recognized and invited as a soloist on clarinet and piccolo clarinet on various international stages: a proud representative of the blue and red of our Alma Mater. Recently, the prestigious National Band of Honduras, known as the Band of the Supreme Powers in reference to the three branches of the Honduran government, extended a special invitation to showcase his art. During his performance, he delivered an unforgettable presentation at the Manuel Bonilla National Theater, performing three pieces as a soloist and sharing his extensive knowledge by conducting masterclasses for the band’s clarinetists, thus contributing to the technical and interpretive development of the musicians.

Additionally, Professor Márquez was invited by the Ministry of Culture of Panama to lead a masterclass in clarinet performance, reaffirming his position as an expert in the musical field and his commitment to training new generations of musicians in Latin America. These opportunities not only highlight his skill and dedication but also demonstrate the quality of the education provided by the Department of Music, the Faculty of Arts, and, in general, the University of Cauca, making its presence felt internationally, literally speaking.

It is important to highlight that Professor Márquez has forged his path from his beginnings in the Philharmonic Band of the Colegio Académico in Buga to earning his Master’s degree in Music from the University of Cauca. His career includes years as the principal clarinetist with the obligation of playing the Eb piccolo clarinet in the Departmental Band, as well as his current role as a university professor.

Without fear of being mistaken, these international engagements reflect the high level of competence and professionalism of Professor Magliony: his commitment and dedicated talent continue to promote the name of this institution and strengthen cultural and educational ties between sister countries. It is gratifying for us to record such events!
