OCAD approves six research projects with profound regional impact led by Unicauca
The Superior Council of the University of Cauca exalted the research projects that bet on the transfer of research results, strengthening of productive chains, improvement of the ecosystem of science, technology and innovation and training of human talent were approved by the Collegiate Body of Administration and Decision OCAD.
The Higher Council of the University of Cauca congratulated the teachers and researchers who coordinate the six regional and national impact projects that were approved at the end of 2019 by the OCAD Collegiate Administration and Decision Body of the Science, Technology and Innovation Fund, FCTeI , from the General Royalty System, SGR.
The six research projects approved by the evaluating entity are:
'Implementation of a program for the participation and articulation of the regional ecosystem of science, technology and innovation in Cauca', led by teachers Adolfo Plazas Tenorio and Álvaro Rendón, approved during session No. 66 of the OCAD, for a value of $ 6,951. 046.254, whose objective is to strengthen the regional ecosystem of science, technology and innovation to facilitate the use of knowledge in the social and productive sectors.
'Consolidation of transfer processes and technologies for the production of biodegradable materials', under the direction of Professor Héctor Samuel Villada Castillo, was approved during session No. 68 of the OCAD for a value of $ 8,178,689,657, and seeks to carry out transfer processes of knowledge and technologies associated with patents in biodegradable materials obtained in the department of Cauca.
Similarly, in session 69 the projects 'Formation of high-level human capital' were approved, presented by Professor Luis Guillermo Jaramillo Echeverri with an amount of $ 3,211,862,000, whose objective is to continue the formation of high-level human talent strengthening the process of qualification at the Doctoral level in the Colombian Southwest, and 'Research and development for the strengthening of the strawberry production chain in the department of Cauca' by Professor José Luis Hoyos of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences with an investment of $ 8,367,017,506, bets on improving the level of research and experimental development in the agroindustrial sector of strawberry cultivation in the department of Cauca.

The last two projects approved in session No. 70 were 'Strengthening of the coconut production chain of the Pacific Coast of Cauca, Stage I: Feasibility study of strategies for adding value to the coconut of the Pacific Coast of Cauca', directed by the teacher José Fernando Grass who intends to add value in the territorial scope to the coconut produced in the Pacific coast of Cauca, with an investment of $ 5,800,184,607.
Likewise, 'Formation of a Technological Development Center for the Innovation of Road Infrastructure in the Department of Cauca', led by Jaime Rafael Obando Ante and teachers of the School of Civil Engineering, for $ 9,295,465,386, which aims to improve the capacity of technological development and applied research in the generation of new alternatives, for the management of the departmental tertiary road system.
These six projects generate positive results not only for the University of Cauca but also allow the transfer of research results, the strengthening of productive chains, improvement of the ecosystem of science, technology and innovation and training of human talent to achieve the development of the regions, for the relevance of projects designed from the needs and that seek to positively impact the living conditions of the communities.
