In the award ceremony of ‘The Night of the Best’, an event organized by the Ministry of National Education, in which tribute is paid to the actors of the Colombian educational sector, the Universidad del Cauca was distinguished with two awards.

 

One of the institutions of higher education that was exalted in the ceremony held on November 26, 2019, was the University of Cauca, with the Francisco José de Caldas Order, for the dynamics for the renewal of the Institutional Accreditation. It also received recognition for the Good Practice in Accreditation Management “With Human Face”, which were received by Professor Miguel Corchuelo Mora, director of the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation.

 

It is recalled that the Alma Mater of the “Caucanos” achieved the renewal of the Institutional Accreditation for a period of eight years, and the High Quality Accreditation of seven of its undergraduate programs.

 

Currently, University of Cauca has 20 accredited programs and six in the National Accreditation Council and is awaiting a response on the renewals of Systems Engineering, Agro-industrial Engineering, Technology in Telematics, as well as other undergraduate programs such as Biology, Business Administration and Speech Therapy.

 

"With satisfaction and pride, the University of Cauca received these awards granted by the Ministry of National Education, but also with deep concern about the current situation facing the public university in Colombia," said Miguel Hugo Corchuelo Mora, director of the Center of Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation, who received on November 19, 2019, the Universidad del Cauca Medal in the category of Eminent Professor, as part of the celebration of the 192 years of foundation of the alma mater.

 

The director of Unicauca pointed out that the success of the institutional re-accreditation granted for eight years, was obtained by the valuable human talent that the University has, forged throughout its history, as well as by strengthening both the supply of programs, as in the dynamics in the field of research and social interaction.

 

He explained that in the dynamics of quality there are two fundamental elements: the first is the prelude to harmonization that is developed in the process of certification ISO 9001: 2015 and by the dynamics of accreditation; secondly, for the success in the construction of the team of quality managers, which has allowed for a more fluid dialogue with the programs, faculties and vice-rectories, with whom there has been a permanent interaction, training, understanding and the effort that the University has made to provide direct resources to the institutional improvement plans as well as the programs that are accredited and those that are in the process of accreditation.

 

Likewise, in the award ceremony of 'The Night of the Best', in which the University of Cauca was distinguished with two awards, the director of the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation, Miguel Corchuelo, said that for the University of Cauca, having 20 programs with High Quality Accreditation means an act of social recognition, according to which, the university community is doing its homework very well and has gained credibility for the academic training it offers and because it is not limited to the exercise of teaching in the classroom, but to the function of shared knowledge, humanism, research and social interaction in quality conditions.

 

“All these achievements have been achieved thanks to the commitment of the program committees, the heads of the different processes that the University develops; also for the dynamics of the vice rectories and the commitment of the entire university community with which the national desires for territorial peace are defended, ”said the director.
