"I receive this appointment with deep joy and pride as it allows me to be part of the Ethics Tribunal. During my term as president, I will be able to uphold medical ethics, which is the only tool that ensures good medical practice, the defense of patients' rights, and the protection of medical staff's rights in this era of crisis and difficult situations, including healthcare service delivery. For me, ethics is the saving element for proper medical practice," said Professor William, who is excited to lead this important space. Thus, this Unicaucan has demonstrated throughout his career a profound commitment to the ethical and moral values that govern medical practice, making his role as president crucial for ensuring the adherence to ethical principles in the practice of medicine in the region.
It is important to highlight that the Medical Ethics Tribunal is an institution affiliated with the Governor’s Office of Cauca, overseeing the adherence to ethical standards in medicine, primarily those outlined in Law 23 of 1981. In this significant space, Professors Victoria Fernández and Jaime Álvarez, both from our Faculty of Health Sciences, have also been appointed as magistrates of the Medical Ethics Tribunal of Cauca. Thus, from this institution of excellence and solidarity, we also congratulate and recognize the outstanding work of our professors, who will contribute to strengthening medical ethics in the department while acquiring new knowledge to enrich their teaching.
