"She is a Palmirana who grew up in Popayán where she studied medicine at the University of Cauca, who serves at the University Hospital of the Valley, as a specialist in intensive care surgery and trauma surgery," said the governor of Valle del Cauca , Dilian Francisca Toro during the ceremony of delivery of the Order of Merit “Vallecaucano” to surgeon Olga Lucía Pérez Orozco.
The governor indicated that it is very important for the Government of the Valley to grant this award, because the professional Olga Lucía Pérez, was in the good times, the bad ones and in the depth of the financial difficulties and now that the Departmental Hospital of the Valley is in better conditions, "she is still there, taking care of her patients and bringing the care center forward, which is very valuable for the Vallunos."

“Being an alumnus of the Universidad del Cauca is my great pride and satisfaction, because not only did I train academically in this prestigious cloister, I am also proud of my parents Jaime Pérez and Marlene Orozco, who honestly and professionally dedicated their entire lives and their knowledge as civil engineers to this alma mater, like my brother Carlos Enrique Pérez, an anthropologist and currently a professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Likewise, my sister Margarita Pérez, who is a Social worker and worked for many years in University Welfare; In addition, my husband, Carmelo Otero, is also a graduate and was a professor at the University of Cauca.
