Latin American Center for Computer Science Studies highlights Unicauca's student thesis

The student of the Doctorate in Electronic Sciences, Gustavo Eduardo Constaín Moreno, obtained first place in the CCLEI 2020 Master's thesis contest, where proposals from Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Colombia were submitted.

 

Gustavo Eduardo Constaín Moreno, who is currently in his first year of the Doctorate in Electronics Sciences from the Universidad del Cauca, obtained first place in the Master's thesis contest of the Latin American Center for Computer Studies CLEI 2020 - CLTM, where he presented proposals from prestigious universities in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Colombia.

 

The work "Recommendations for the design of inclusive computer applications to support the treatment of autism spectrum disorder" will be presented as one of the main conferences during the event that CLEI will hold, virtually, from October 19 to 23, 2020 in the Private Technical University of Loja (Ecuador).

 

Engineer Constaín is part of the IDIS Group (Research and Development in Software Engineering) of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications and is also a Professor at the National Open and Distance University. “This is a recognition of all the work that has been carried out in the IDIS group of the University of Cauca on the subject of using Information Technologies to improve the quality of life of people focused on a Design-Centered process.

 

The winning work corresponds to the Master's thesis in Computing by Gustavo Constaín, directed by Professor César Collazos from the University of Cauca and by Professor Fernando Moreira from the Universidad Portucalense of Portugal.

 

Currently, Gustavo Constaín is in the first year of his doctoral work, which has the support of the aforementioned professors and from the Researcher Susana Bautista of the Francisco de Vitoria University (Spain).

 

As mentioned on the event page, the three best works were recognized:

 

First Prize: Gustavo Constaín. "Recommendations for the design of inclusive computer applications to support the treatment of autism spectrum disorder".

 

Second Prize: Jonathan Muraña, University of the Republic, Uruguay. "Empirical characterization and modeling of power consumption and energy aware scheduling in data centers".

 

Third Prize: Manuel Cáceres, University of Chile, Chile “Compressed Suffix Trees for Repetitive Collections based on Block Trees”.

 

The winning works will be published in the proceedings of the XLVI Latin American Congress of Informatics (CLEI 2020), whose objective is to disseminate and transmit the work of Latin American students who have recently completed their master's thesis in informatics.
