With important results and wide participation, Unicauca held the 1st Mercosur Sports Forum

After an arduous work of several months of preparation, the sports contest allowed from virtuality to consolidate 11 Latin American networks / observatories, present 86 papers by important national and international speakers and achieve the participation of 14 Latin American and Caribbean countries.

 

With excellent results and broad regional, national and international participation, the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports of the University of Cauca, held between November 23 and 27, 2020, The I International Forum "Sports Diplomacy, the V Forum of Latin American "Games, Sports and Body Practices of Indigenous Peoples" and the XI Latin American MERCOSUR Forum: Democratization of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation.

 

 

The academic event was held with the purpose of creating participation spaces for reflection around regional integration and international cooperation from sports, education and physical recreation, and ancestral games, sports and practices, around democratization said Pedro Aníbal Yanza Mera, head of the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports at the University of Cauca.

 

Likewise, giving continuity to the processes of national and international visibility and in homage to the foundation of the University of Cauca, the Faculty of Exact Natural Sciences and Education, the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports and the Degree Program in Physical Education, Recreation and Sports have carried out International Seminars on Physical Education, Recreation, Sports, Physical Activity and Human Motor and Graduate Meetings.

 

The teacher said that to commemorate the 193 years of the founding of the Alma Mater, the 21 years of the Bachelor Program and the 20 years of work of the Department of Physical Education, this great event was held in partnership between the University of Cauca from the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports, with the Latin American Mercosur Forum “Democratization of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation.

 

The various themes of sport, physical education, recreation, as well as the body practices of indigenous peoples, were the elements of cultural cohesion of the First International Forum of Sports Diplomacy, the Fifth Latin American Forum of Games, Sports and Body Practices of the Indigenous Peoples and the XI Latin American Mercosur Forum for the Democratization of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, said Professor Pedro Aníbal Yanza Mera.

 

He also indicated that these forums allowed the consolidation of the 11 Latin American networks / observatories:

6. Latin American Network on Popular Education in Sports, Physical Education, Physical Activity, Indigenous Games, Recreation and Use of Free Time

7. Observatory of Public Policies of Latin America and the Caribbean in Sports, Physical Education, Physical Activity, Indigenous Games and Recreation

8. Latin American Network of Gender and Equal Opportunities in Sports, Physical Education, Physical Activity and Indigenous Games

9. Latin American MERCOSUR Network of Institutions of Higher Education in Sports, Physical Education, Physical Activity, Indigenous Games and Recreation

10. Latin American Network for Disability in Sports, Physical Education, Physical Activity, Indigenous Games and Recreation

11. Latin American Network for Older Adults in Physical Activity, Sports, Physical Education and Recreation

 

 

This contest contributed to consolidate intercultural physical education in the Mercosur countries’, the central theme of this Latin American forum in which the lifestyle linked to enjoyment and play was highlighted as an important part of union.
