Historic Event: Unicauca Signs a New Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement with 5 Superior Normal Educational Institutions
With the purpose of supporting and facilitating the immediate transition to higher education for students who have completed their pedagogical bachelor's process in Normal Superior Educational Institutions, the University of Cauca signed on Friday, February 2nd, at the Paraninfo Francisco José de Caldas, a Specific Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement. The protocol meeting was chaired by Dr. Aída Patricia Gonzáles Nieva, acting as delegate rector, alongside the rectors and coordinators of the 5 Normal Superior Educational Institutions of the Department.
True to our commitment to be #HeritageForAll, at the University of Cauca, we continue to advance in enabling the youth of Cauca to transform their lives, using education as a powerful tool for this purpose. After signing a Framework Agreement in December, on February 2, 2024, we celebrated the signing of a Specific Agreement to allow the youth from the following Normal Superior Educational Institutions: Escuela Normal Superior de Popayán, Escuela Normal Superior Santa Clara in Almaguer, Escuela Normal Superior Los Andes in La Vega, Escuela Normal Superior La Inmaculada in Guapi, and Escuela Normal Superior Enrique Vallejo in Paéz, to access higher education while simultaneously completing their first semester of complementary training programs at these Normal Superior Institutions.
"For us, this is an extraordinary event because I used to tell parents that Baby Jesus had looked upon us once again, that this had never happened before with the normal schools, that it brought us gifts such as waiving tuition for those starting their first semester, for the best students, and another wonderful privilege, can you believe it, half a minimum wage to live in Popayán? This had never been seen before. This is an event worth applauding. As the teacher said, the University of Cauca is a national heritage, but I always tell people, the Normal School of Guapi is a heritage of the Cauca region. That's why we have to take care of it; we can't let it disappear," expressed Concepción Zúñiga Banguera, principal of Escuela Normal Superior La Inmaculada, in the municipality of Guapi.
Similarly, the acting principal, Dr. Aída Patricia Gonzáles Nieva, stated, "This agreement allows us to have a presence in the territory, create opportunities for these young people, and the most significant aspect is that it provides our youth with conditions to have teachers trained in and for the territory. We will start the registration process next week, facilitating the submission of documents virtually, and each institution has a total of 24 slots."
Therefore, young students from different Normal Superior Schools who are interested in specifically joining three of our bachelor's programs (Bachelor of Primary Education, Bachelor of Natural Sciences and Environmental Education, or Bachelor of Art Education) can enter the first semester of the complementary training program at their institution, while also enrolling at the University of Cauca, thus having dual student status.
Let's remember that this differential admission process takes effect immediately, so starting from February 8th, through our website www.unicauca.edu.co, registrations will be open for the beginning of the first semester of 2024. The goal is for young people whose life project is to dedicate themselves to teaching to take important steps in that direction from now on (consult the complete Schedule ). Additionally, as a preliminary exercise, on February 6th and 7th, a team from the Regionalization Center and the Division of Admissions, Registration, and Academic Control (Darca) will be visiting the Normal Superior Schools to socialize and collect preliminary documents from those interested in becoming part of Unicauca.
Desde this Universidad de Excelencia y Solidaria, we invite all students from Normal Superior Schools to not miss out on this great opportunity, as we are working tirelessly to provide the best opportunities to transform their lives. We know that one of the ways to contribute to the development of our region and country is by working together to make education the cornerstone that makes the biggest dreams come true.
