The dream to become unicaucano in Guapi comes true! We open registrations for the Agroecology Engineering program in that Pacific Coast municipality
As an opportunity to transform lives and continue weaving dreams without leaving their territories, the chance to study at a public and High-Quality Accredited University is now a reality! Until September 18, enrollment will be open for the Agroecological Engineering program at Universidad del Cauca; a program that begins its journey in the municipality of Guapi as a unique opportunity for the inhabitants of the Pacific Coast.
As a commitment to expanding access to higher education in territories historically affected by inequality, the launch of the Agroecological Engineering program at the new Unicauca campus in Guapi is a call to the youth of the region to dream of a better future and become key actors in the transformation of their communities. Thus, Universidad del Cauca reaffirms its commitment to the territory and its people. Within the framework of the Institutional Development Plan “For a University of Excellence and Solidarity”, the current administration has drawn a roadmap prioritizing outreach to more regions with relevant programs, creating opportunities where before it seemed impossible.

This would not be possible without the support of the Ministry of National Education, with whom we work hand in hand to facilitate access to higher education for young people. Under this horizon, in its second strategic axis, the Alma Mater of Cauca takes on the challenge of being a university of solidarity, committed to its surroundings, reaching out to the most remote territories of the department so that higher education ceases to be a privilege and becomes a real and accessible right.
Thus, this purpose materializes with the opening of enrollment for the Agroecological Engineering program in Guapi; enrollment will be available from August 28 to September 18, 2025. Backed by Resolution VRA 482 of 2025, issued by the Academic Vice-Rectory, this initiative not only seeks to train professionals with environmental and social awareness, but also to offer the youth of the Pacific Coast of Cauca real alternatives to challenges that have historically limited them, such as lack of educational infrastructure, mobility difficulties, violence generated by armed groups, drug trafficking, and illicit crops, among others.

In this way, Unicauca recognizes that young people from territories such as Guapi, López de Micay, Timbiquí, and other municipalities in northern Nariño face unequal conditions compared to those accessing education in cities like Popayán or other departmental capitals. For this reason, it has designed admission processes that take into account the realities of each region, understanding that talent and the desire to overcome adversity do not depend on circumstances, but on the conviction to dream and fight for a better future.
Why choose to become Unicaucan@ by selecting this program? Agroecological Engineering connects scientific knowledge with ancestral and community wisdom, responding to the urgent need to care for the land, strengthen food sovereignty, and promote sustainable development. Those who choose this path will not only be building their life projects but also contributing to the transformation of their territories and collective well-being.

The call is clear: this is a golden opportunity that opens doors, breaks barriers, and demonstrates that from the Pacific region of Cauca it is also possible to lead innovation, environmental stewardship, and social development. Universidad del Cauca invites young people to enroll, believe in their potential, and be part of an institution that, as #HeritageForAll, accompanies communities in solidarity on their path toward excellence.
