Unicauca Estéreo is an educational and cultural radio station, licensed for public interest by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies, and has been in operation for 32 years. As an institutional communication medium associated with the university, we adhere to constitutional and legal principles. As a Public Interest broadcaster (Decree 1446 of 1995), our programming aims to enhance the educational and cultural levels of our audience. Simultaneously, we undertake the challenging mission of promoting and disseminating human values, supporting civic education through our expertise.

Considering the aforementioned, as part of our institutional mission objectives, not only as a university but also as an educational radio station, Unicauca Estéreo, in conjunction with technical guidance from experts in the Department of Political Science at our institution, is conducting an educational campaign within the framework of the ongoing electoral process in the country during the second semester of 2023. This initiative has included educational segments, analyses on various aspects of the electoral contest with political science professors and the Electoral Observation Mission (MOE), as well as interviews with candidates for different governing bodies, particularly focusing on the Governorship of Cauca, the Mayor's Office of Popayán, and the Mayor's Office of Santander de Quilichao.

Therefore, as an academic platform fostering knowledge generation, the University of Cauca is committed to contributing, leveraging our skills and expertise, to foster an informed citizenry. Hence, through this political communication initiative, our main objective is to equip citizens with sufficient tools to make informed decisions while emphasizing the importance of participating in democratic rights and duties.

For this reason, Unicauca Estéreo extended invitations to candidates contending for the aforementioned three governing bodies to participate in a live interview on our radio platform. This was aimed at providing our audience with more comprehensive insights into the candidates' proposals and projects that would be implemented if elected. It's important to note that to ensure fairness among candidates, we allocated the same time slot for interviews at 6:25 a.m., focusing on public administration themes within the governing body. The order of invitation for interviews is exclusively based on alphabetical order of their surnames.

Candidates were requested to send a brief profile, and only the candidate, accompanied by a maximum of three individuals, is permitted to enter the Unicauca Estéreo studios. Those attending should refrain from rallying, using megaphones, distributing or displaying political advertising, or engaging in any political activities other than the interview within the University of Cauca's radio station premises.
