La Universidad -

With the participation of more than 700 attendees, the 9th Agrarian Week of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, held from November 13 to 15, provided a dynamic and enriching space with exhibitions in the areas of Forestry, Agriculture, and Agroindustry, as well as discussions on alumni entrepreneurship, school visits as part of the "Aprópiate de la FACA" program, an agricultural market, and sports activities.

Over the course of three days, the 9th Agrarian Week featured an academic agenda with the participation of prominent professors such as Olga Lucía Cadena, Luis Alfredo Londoño Vélez, Mónica Risueño, Ana María Sandoval, and Diana Villalobos, as well as the launch of a series of books resulting from research processes led by CICAFICULTURA. The event also included entrepreneurship presentations, an agricultural market with the active participation of producers, academic exhibitions, discussions, and visits from high school students in 10th and 11th grades, who explored the "Aprópiate de la FACA" program. In a celebration that integrated culture, knowledge, and flavors, the cultural program was enhanced with performances by the choir of the Business Administration Program and the choir Voces Unidas of the Speech Therapy Program.

The 9th Agrarian Week concluded with a sports day, which included the Third Mountain Biking Competition, the Second Athletics Race in the 5K and 10K categories, and a marathon of sports dancing and Latin rhythms. Thus, with a packed program, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences stood out by bringing together so many enthusiasts in its facilities. The event coordinators publicly expressed their gratitude to the academic and administrative departments that joined and committed to the success of the event, as well as to students, staff, and professors for their active participation. “We deeply thank everyone who made this Agrarian Week possible and extend a cordial invitation to the university community to join us in the next edition, where we will continue strengthening learning and connections with the agricultural sector,” said Clara Parra, part of the organizing team.

The University of Cauca celebrates and promotes events like the 9th Agrarian Week, which combine knowledge, recreational activities, and unity among different actors in our academic and regional community. This event, in addition to its notable academic and sports agenda, strengthened the bonds between our stakeholders (students, professors, alumni) and other actors (such as producers and visitors) around the richness of agrarian knowledge. In this regard, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences gives special recognition to professors Gustavo Ordóñez and William Mauna, from the Division of Recreation and Sports Management of the Vice-Rectory of Culture and Well-being, as well as Professor Saulo Andrés Chamorro and his group of students from the Bachelor’s program in Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports, for their invaluable support in the sports program. Finally, the Faculty invites the entire university community to participate in the next edition, reaffirming the institutional commitment to the academic, cultural, and recreational development of the sector. In this way, we continue to sow for the present, but also for the future.
