The University of Cauca began the construction of the building, which will benefit 188 students from the Alma Mater in Cauca who meet the requirements for accessing this University Well-being program.

“I am very happy to tell the university community that on June 30 we started the construction of the university residences. Today we have a 5% advance corresponding to the demolition work. And we plan to deliver the students their new residences on October 29, 2021,”said Cielo Pérez Solano, Administrative Vice-Rector of the University of Cauca.

The Administrative Vice Chancellor added that the new building will be constructed with a total investment of 9.6 billion pesos, of which 8,600 are assigned by the Government of Cauca of the General System of Royalties and 1,000 million pesos from the University of Cauca.

The building, according to the schedule of the work would enter service in 16 months, the start of this work was delayed while complying with all the rules and protocols of security and biosecurity that the context of the pandemic poses.

The Universidad del Cauca is one of the three universities in the country that has this welfare service aimed at low-income students from municipalities other than Popayán and who have a good academic average.
