Banco de la República Presents Its Economic Education Programs at Unicauca

La Universidad -

At the main auditorium of the Faculty of Accounting, Economic, and Administrative Sciences of our university, the Economic Education Department of the Banco de la República shared a package of resources aimed at educating Colombians about financial matters and central banking.

The goal of this tour is to present all the economic education programs offered by the Banco de la República. Through Banrep Educa, these programs are readily available for university students studying economics and related fields. The good news is that students from other disciplines are also welcome to apply for internship programs and study opportunities abroad.

In this regard, the Banco de la República provides scholarships for postgraduate studies abroad in areas such as Economics, Public Policy, Public Administration, Economic Law, and Visual Arts. The idea is for university students to stay informed about these opportunities so they can prepare the necessary documentation in advance and apply for these benefits that can turn their dreams into reality.

But what is Banrep Educa? It is the Banco de la República's economic education program, created over a decade ago, with the primary goal of fostering a greater understanding of the Bank’s role in the Colombian economy and society. It aims to clarify its objectives and functions and to explain how its decisions directly impact everyday life and overall well-being.

The Economic Education Department seeks to make economic definitions and concepts accessible, using clear and straightforward language for a broad audience, including both economics students and individuals without specialized knowledge in the field. If you’re interested in this topic, simply visit the Banco de la República’s website, click on the Economic Education button in the blue navigation bar, and explore all the available courses, contests, and educational resources—it's that easy!

Additionally, during this event at Unicauca, attendees received an introduction to Bre-B, Colombia’s new interoperable instant payment system. This system will allow users to make payments and transfers instantly, regardless of their bank or electronic deposit provider. Transactions will be processed in no more than 20 seconds, 24/7, throughout the year. Although the service will officially launch in September 2025, voluntary registration for user credentials with their respective banks will begin in July. Everyone is encouraged to stay updated on this exciting development.

At Unicauca, we are honored to be chosen as a venue where representatives from national institutions can visit and share valuable information with our enthusiastic students—knowledge that has the potential to transform lives.
