ASCUN Aims to Improve Higher Education Metrics in Colombia
While meeting, methodological aspects were reviewed originating the results published by the National Ministry of Education (MEN) and university presidents agreed it is important to meet with the National Ministry of Education Minister Gina Parody to share their thoughts.
"We are not opposed to the measuring activity and the management of higher education institutions but the variables that make up the model can be improved to reflect university life more objectively," said Juan Diego Castrillón Orrego, current UNICAUCA president and president of ASCUN.
Thus, a MEN document is expected reflecting the commitment to quality work and higher academic standards raising the educational level of the institutions.
"The document provides some criteria that we believe can improve this measuring system in order to understand issues such as complexities and differences in the management of public and private universities," concluded Juan Diego Castrillon.
MIDE, in the month of July, placed the University of Cauca in the top twenty of 187 public and private higher education institutions that were analyzed in Colombia.
