A delegation from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Cauca, which included teachers, students and alumni, under the coordination of Professor Alex Rodríguez, reached the Territorial Training and Reincorporation 'Dagoberto Ortiz', located in the village of Monterredondo (Miranda), where about 250 members of the FARC are concentrated, within the framework of the Peace Agreement signed between this organization and the Government.

 

The objective of this meeting was to advance a Humanitarian Brigade in Arts in the framework of the Art & Peace Project, which consists of relating to the population in the process of reincorporation, and that the University makes presence in pedagogical and community terms in these areas where art as a reconstructor of meaning, allows us to understand the traces left by war.

 

"Here the art responds to the social moment, at this moment of the agreement implementation, this is the great motivation that we have to peace zones; ask ourselves as a university, how artists are the relevance and what is the work we can do. So far we have learned a lot, and that is one of the important things about this project, which is not a vertical pedagogical process, but a collective work, which is not done without this community," said Professor Rodríguez, a graduate of Alma Mater, and who teaches a painting course in Plastic Arts program.

 

This Humanitarian Brigade in the Arts is part of an agenda of interventions by the members of the project in question, initially advanced in the territories that until recently were called Zonal Transitional Zonal Zones - ZVTN, 'Los Monos', in the municipality of Caldono; and 'La Elvira', in the jurisdiction of Buenos Aires.

 

According to Professor Rodríguez, after the diagnosis period, the idea is to continue with a process of continuous education that generates that the University, its teachers and students, "take a movement position, to move to areas where art has not arrived, where not much knowledge has arrived, with the hope that at the end of the year there will be some results in relation to training of trainers. "

 

The activity, which took place over three and a half days, consisted of an initial approach with members of the FARC, in order to present some of the initiatives implemented in the project; later they were invited from the reflection Who am I ?, What strange ?, How do I see myself in the future ?, to translate their experiences into a text that inspired them to create works of art with colored pencils, charcoal, vinyls, as well as to make a collective mural around the peace, and to learn serigraphy.
