Professor Oscar Mauricio Caicedo Rendón and students Edwin Andrés Samboní, Pablo César Garzón Benítez, and Layla Vanessa Zúñiga Hidrobo, members of the ComSoCauca research group, participated in IEEE LATINCOM 2024.
The ComSoCauca research group (Communication Society), which officially started its work in 2017 as a group of global industry professionals with a shared interest in advancements in communication technologies, and which is part of the Telematics Department at the University of Cauca, actively participated in IEEE LATINCOM 2024, held in Medellín from November 6 to 8.
LATINCOM is the most important annual conference on communications in Latin America, and this year it featured participants from countries such as Belgium, Canada, Germany, Panama, Italy, the United States, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia, and Paraguay.
For the 2024 edition, LATINCOM opened with the conference “Large Language Models for Network Management: Opportunities and Challenges,” presented by Professor Oscar Mauricio Caicedo Rendón, Senior Researcher at the Telematics Engineering Group, coordinator of the Master's in Telematics Engineering, and mentor of the ComSoCauca research group.
In this context, students Edwin Andrés Samboní, Pablo César Garzón Benítez, and Layla Vanessa Zúñiga Hidrobo, members of ComSoCauca, along with Professor Caicedo, published the article “On the Feasibility of Classifying Flows in Software-Defined Data Center Networks by an Encoder-Only Architecture” at LATINCOM 2024.
Student Samboní presented the article, which will soon be globally available in the IEEE Xplore digital library.
Additionally, student Luisa Marcela Alegría, coordinator of ComSoCauca and president of the IEEE COMSOC Chapter at Unicauca, actively participated in the ComSoc Latam Regional Chapter Chairs Congress, making valuable connections for the research group.
