Agreement of academic and labor guarantees is signed between the “Triestamentary” and the University Directorate
After four weeks of dialogue and negotiation, the academic, welfare, labor and inter-institutional guarantees were agreed in the collective and permanent construction of the University project and the current situation caused by the pandemic as a result of COVID-19.
The Francisco José de Caldas “Paraninfo” was the setting for the signing of the Agreement for the development of the academic and working period 2021-1 that was built at the dialogue and negotiation table installed on January 27 between the University Directorate and the three university levels: Students, teachers and administrators.
"It is about the continuity of the agreements reached in the previous semester due to the pandemic, defining the academic, cultural and well-being, administrative guarantees, among others aimed at students, teachers and workers", explained the rector of the University of Cauca, José Luis Diago Franco.
Topics such as the academic modality, quotas, connectivity, methodologies, degree ceremonies, monitoring, among others are part of the academic guarantees agreed between the parties, in which it is indicated that the 2021-1 semester in the academic and work will be virtual with projection to the presence.
“This agreement is too important because it creates guarantees for students, teachers and administrators. It is a broad agreement that condenses a dynamic of negotiation with the administration, through an arduous exercise in which positive issues have emerged, and which will be reflected through Agreements of the Academic Council and Superior Council ", indicated Paula Andrea Muñoz Restrepo, student representative to the Academic Council.
Professor Luis Reinel Vásquez, President of ASPU Cauca, said that the attitude of the university leadership is seen in a positive way to reach agreements, with the aim of building an institution together.
The document contains the guarantees on university well-being, covering aspects such as the safe return of students and their orientation in case of isolation, municipal and inter-municipal mobility permits when required, presence of the Health Brigade, extension of the hours of systems rooms. , support for students through the “Padrino” Plan, increase in Wi-Fi points, among others.
On the issue of inter-institutional guarantees, emphasis was placed on issues such as the management to achieve zero enrollment with the support of the National Government and the territorial entities, as well as the coordination actions to achieve the preferential rate and the transportation and food subsidy
On the labor side, the President of Sintraunicol Popayán, Rocío Janeth Ceballos, expressed that the agreement is signed by the three estates and the university administration approving the guarantees to improve working and academic conditions in the current pandemic.
"Our commitment is to continue contributing to the university from virtuality, fulfilling the functions as university students to contribute in making the institution better every day," emphasized the President of Sintraunicol.
