On March 1, National Day of the Public Accountant, it framed the installation and the first discussion of the Public Accounting Week 2021, an event organized by the Public Accounting program of the University of Cauca.
In this academic act, Professor Zoraida Ramírez Gutiérrez, coordinator of the Public Accounting program, highlighted the importance that this academic program has had during 54 years of academic activities at the University of Cauca, which has High Quality Accreditation.
“Colombia today has 275,000 public accountants contributing their knowledge to different entities and companies in the country and abroad. Around 65%, that is, more than 175,000 practicing professionals are women and less than 10% of them carry out management or leadership activities in Colombia, which has reduced their practice to technical, auxiliary or secretarial activities”.
That is why all the talks have been set up with an active and significant participation of academic women, researchers and professionals who contribute their views on the issues of the accounting discipline and the profession.
Regarding the commemoration of this important date, the professor of the Department of Accounting Sciences of the University of Cauca, said that in the Auditorium of San Ignacio, maximum classroom of the University of Antioquia, the historic decision to approve the celebration of the Day took place of the Colombian Public Accountant, during the national meeting of the Boards of Directors of Accountants' associations throughout the country, which was held on March 1 and 2, 1975.
Regarding the agenda of activities that the Public Accounting Week will have, the teacher indicated that online conversations will be staged about accounting dynamics and disciplinary trends from culture, environmental accounting, sustainability, the effects on the pandemic, the role of technologies, among other important global current issues, but also the presence of anecdotes and activities for the approach with graduates, teachers and students of the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences of the University of Cauca.
