La Universidad -

In response to preventive measures against the threat of COVID 19, the Academic Council of the University of Cauca indicated the academic criteria for the completion of the II academic period of 2019, in order to avoid possible alterations in its execution.

The completion of classes corresponding to the II academic period of 2019 will be on March 16, as announced by the Academic Council of the University through Academic Agreement 018 of 2020, as a measure to end the semester and avoid possible complications in the health of the university community and society in general.

The aforementioned administrative act also indicates that the minimum deadline for the registration of grades of 70% on the SIMCA platform will be maintained on Friday, March 20, while the evaluation corresponding to 30% must be carried out in accordance with the activities carried out until March 16, 2020. Similarly, alternative assessment strategies will be implemented in person, such as ICT tools and other means, in order to carry out the final assessment process (30%).

It is confirmed that all face-to-face activities related to the undergraduate and graduate programs are restricted. The Councils of each Faculty, through the respective administrative act, will establish the criteria for the development of previously scheduled activities that can be carried out virtually or through alternative means. Such administrative acts must be sent to the Academic Vice-Rectory before Wednesday March 18, 2020.

The Academic Council recommends that the Faculty Councils carry out extraordinary and extended sessions to carry out monitoring and evaluation processes of the measures adopted through this administrative act, motivating the different academic bodies to support the prevention strategies adopted, which seek to safeguard the fundamental rights of the community in general.

As a preventive measure from which it is intended to reduce the risk of contagion with COVID-19, services will not be provided to the general public in the following university units: Museums, Libraries, Cafeterias, University Sports Center (CDU), and Gyms and Practice labs.

It is noteworthy that in the Library of the University of Cauca, exceptionally, the books or bibliographic resources required by the students will be loaned, at the times established for this purpose by said academic unit.

The decisions made by the Academic Council are based on the guidelines of the World Health Organization-WHO and of national order, the University of Cauca taking advantage of these preventive measures, issued a statement dated March 15, 2020 noting that classes are suspended face-to-face in the different undergraduate and graduate programs.
