The Faculty of Arts of the University of Cauca invites you to the defense of the undergraduate thesis My Oneiric World by student Bernarda Gómez Perafán. The academic project, under the Research – Creative Option modality, was supervised by Professor Ricardo Enrique Amaya Gaitán, with jury members Adriana Torres Cap, Eduardo Muñoz, and Alexander Rodríguez.

The defense will take place on August 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Guillermo León Valencia House Museum (Calle 5 # 9-82 Popayán).

Abstract

“My work is built upon writing. Each paragraph I compose allows me to create a world of images, symbols, and ideas that I can embody and dematerialize in my paintings. This world can be understood as an endless set of images, decontextualized within the journey that arises from the experimentation of the oneiric moment through dreams, landscapes, and the mental worlds of the psyche. Then, this world becomes a language, where words appear automatically, within a dream, interrupting a lived story, and thus breaking linearity, while bringing with them neologisms with diverse meanings.”
