La Universidad -

Date: Thursday, June 12, 2025
Place: Auditorium, alternate campus, Faculty of Human and Social Sciences
Time: 08:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m.

The Research Group on Philosophy and the Teaching of Philosophy and the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Cauca invite teachers from educational institutions across the Department to participate in the 2nd Colloquium on the Teaching of Philosophy in Rural Educational Contexts, to be held on June 12 and 13, 2025.

This colloquium aims to provide a space for dialogue in which teachers can share their pedagogical experiences in teaching philosophy, with the goal of rethinking both schooling and philosophical practice as experiences for learning to live in community and in relation to the territory and the environment. Likewise, it seeks to be a platform to explore, reflect on, and debate the role, meaning, and challenges of teaching philosophy in rural school contexts.

Teachers are invited to participate by presenting papers, posters, short films, workshops, research findings or projects, theoretical contributions, and other inspiring pedagogical experiences. The main theme centers on the lived experiences of teachers both inside and outside the classroom in their efforts to teach philosophy. These experiences may include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching ethics to strengthen a culture of peace in areas affected by armed conflict
  • The relationship between philosophy, memory, and human rights
  • The relevance of philosophy in rural contexts
  • Teaching philosophy through aesthetic, playful, and literary dimensions
  • The opportunities offered by Indigenous, Afro-Colombian, or peasant contexts to renew philosophical discourse
  • Innovative pedagogical practices in the teaching of philosophy
  • Challenges faced in teaching philosophy in rural areas
